Understanding the Product and the Inquiry

For buyers who are still deciding whether a decorative bulb, an adapted product or a new custom development is the right route.

What does GLORILUM customize?+

We focus on decorative glass bulbs and project-specific product configurations. Depending on feasibility, the work may cover bulb shape and size, glass finish, filament pattern or color, base, voltage, dimmable or non-dimmable construction, labeling and packaging.

Not every option can be combined in every model. The correct route is confirmed after reviewing the appearance, electrical specification, fixture and order requirement.

Who are these custom bulb services intended for?+

They are intended mainly for lighting brands, wholesalers, distributors, designers, contractors, hospitality or retail groups and commercial project buyers. We are structured around sample approval and production coordination rather than single-piece consumer personalization.

Are decorative bulbs for atmosphere or for general illumination?+

Most visible-filament decorative bulbs are selected primarily for atmosphere, visual identity and local ambient light. They should not automatically be treated as the only functional light source for a dining room, hotel room, retail floor or work area.

The lighting designer should coordinate them with the required task, accent and general lighting levels.

What should I send for an initial quotation?+

Send the bulb shape or reference, approximate dimensions, glass and filament direction, base, voltage, frequency, target market, dimming requirement, fixture information, quantity, packaging needs and schedule. A drawing, clear photo or physical sample can help, but it does not replace the final specification.

Can we start from an existing product or fixture?+

Yes. An existing product family is often the fastest route when the glass form and construction already fit the project. If you start from a fixture, provide its drawing, holder, opening, internal clearance, orientation, rating and installation environment so the proposed bulb can be reviewed against it.

02 / DESIGN & CUSTOMIZATION

Glass, Shape, Filament and Product Identity

For product managers and designers translating a visual direction into something that can be sampled, manufactured and repeated.

Can the bulb shape and size be customized?+

Existing shapes can often be adapted more efficiently than creating new glass tooling. A completely new form depends on glass-process feasibility, dimensions, wall construction, base connection, internal component space, order quantity and tooling cost.

Start by checking the Bulb Shape Guide, then share a dimensioned drawing or target envelope.

Which glass finishes are practical for a project?+

Clear, champagne and smoke-gray directions are common starting points, while other colors may be reviewed for selected products. The off-state appearance, illuminated appearance, filament visibility and consistency requirement should be approved together.

See the Glass Color Options guide before choosing only from a screen image.

Can you match a glass color from a photo or color code?+

A photo or color reference can communicate direction, but it cannot by itself define transparent or reflective glass. Screen calibration, lighting, camera exposure, glass thickness and the illuminated filament all affect perception.

Use a physical sample and agree an acceptable comparison method for production.

Can the filament be made as a letter, symbol or custom pattern?+

Selected bulb constructions can support letters, short words, symbols or geometric patterns. Feasibility depends on the available internal area, bend radius, support points, readability, viewing direction, electrical layout and product quantity.

Simple, bold forms usually reproduce more consistently than very fine artwork. Review the Filament Design Guide before preparing artwork.

Are colored filaments available?+

Colored filament directions may be available for selected products, but perceived color changes with glass tint, brightness, ambient light, camera exposure and dimming level. Approve a physical sample in the intended fixture instead of treating an online image as a color standard.

Can one design language be used across several bulb families?+

Often yes, but the same artwork may need to be redrawn for ST64, T30, globe or other internal spaces. The goal is a recognizable family, not necessarily identical internal geometry.

Approve each model’s shape, filament direction, glass and illuminated appearance as a separate specification.

03 / ELECTRICAL & FIXTURE FIT

Ratings, Controls and Installation Conditions

For specifiers and contractors who need the bulb to work inside a real fixture and electrical system—not only look correct in a sample photo.

What voltage options can be discussed?+

120V and 230V project versions are common discussion points, while some selected constructions may support a wider input range. Availability depends on the exact product, electronics, dimming, power, target market and required documentation.

Confirm each version separately through the Voltage Customization Guide.

Can the same bulb specification be used for both 120V and 230V markets?+

Do not assume so. The two versions may require different internal electronics, components, labels, testing and control compatibility even when the glass looks identical. Use distinct product codes and approve the electrical version for each destination market.

Can the bulbs be dimmable?+

Selected products can be reviewed in dimmable or non-dimmable versions. “Dimmable” does not mean compatible with every dimmer. The exact bulb, supply, frequency, dimmer model, circuit load, fixture and required low-end range should be tested together.

Use the Dimmable Bulb Guide to prepare the control information.

How do I confirm the correct lamp base?+

Provide the base designation and the lampholder or fixture documentation. Similar-looking screw or bayonet bases are not automatically interchangeable, and a correct base alone does not prove the bulb’s voltage, dimensions or fixture suitability.

Can a decorative bulb be used in a fully enclosed fixture?+

Only when the exact lamp and fixture combination permits it. An enclosure restricts airflow and can change operating temperature. Confirm the lamp instructions, fixture rating, internal clearance and thermal condition instead of assuming approval from the base or bulb shape.

Are decorative glass bulbs suitable for outdoor or damp locations?+

Not automatically. Suitability depends on the complete rated installation, including the fixture, seals, location classification and product instructions. A decorative glass envelope alone does not provide an outdoor or damp-location rating.

What fixture dimensions and orientation should be checked?+

Check the fixture opening, internal diameter and length, holder position, shade or clip clearance, bulb spacing, installation access and operating orientation. Large globes and long T30 forms should be tested in the real fixture or a representative mock-up before a bulk order.

04 / SAMPLES & APPROVAL

Turning a Concept into a Controlled Specification

For teams that need to know what a sample proves, what it does not prove and how to freeze decisions before production.

Is a physical sample necessary before production?+

For a custom appearance or electrical configuration, a physical sample is strongly recommended. It allows the buyer to review dimensions, glass, filament, light appearance, base, label and basic operation in a representative fixture.

A sample does not replace site compatibility, certification or production acceptance criteria; those must also be defined.

What is the usual sample-development sequence?+

First confirm the written requirement and feasibility. Then agree the product route, prepare or adapt the sample, review it against stated criteria, record requested changes and issue a final approved reference before production.

The number of rounds depends on how far the request differs from an existing model.

What should be checked on the approval sample?+

Check the product code, dimensions, glass color and surface, filament geometry and direction, off-state and illuminated appearance, base, voltage, frequency, dimming version, label, packaging and fixture fit. Record photos and written acceptance points with the physical sample.

Is a photo or video enough for color and dimming approval?+

No. Camera exposure, white balance, display calibration and frame rate can hide or exaggerate brightness, tint and flicker. Photos and videos are useful for communication, but physical review in the intended environment is the stronger approval method.

What happens if the specification changes after sample approval?+

A change to glass, filament, voltage, dimming, base, label, packaging or dimensions can affect feasibility, cost, schedule and testing. Record the revision, identify what changed and confirm whether a new sample or additional validation is required before production continues.

05 / MOQ, PRICE & SCHEDULE

Commercial Questions That Depend on the Specification

For procurement teams comparing an existing-product order with an adapted or fully custom development.

What is the MOQ for custom decorative bulbs?+

MOQ is not one fixed number for every project. It depends on whether the order uses an existing product, custom glass, a new filament, electronics, packaging, labels, tooling and material procurement.

Send the target specification and forecast quantity so the MOQ can be quoted for the actual route.

What has the biggest effect on unit price?+

The main factors can include product construction, glass process, filament complexity, electronics, base, testing, order quantity, packaging, labeling, tooling and delivery terms. A lower quantity or more unique configuration usually spreads development and setup costs across fewer units.

How is lead time estimated?+

Lead time should be separated into requirement review, sample development, buyer approval, material preparation, production, inspection, packaging and shipment. The schedule begins from agreed milestones—not simply from the first inquiry date.

Late specification changes or delayed approval can move the production window.

Can we place a small trial order before a larger rollout?+

A trial route may be possible for selected existing or adapted products, but the practical quantity depends on components, production setup and packaging. Clarify whether the trial is for market testing, fixture validation or final production approval because each purpose needs different acceptance criteria.

How do repeat orders stay consistent?+

Keep the approved sample, final product code, revision, glass and filament references, electrical version, packaging artwork and inspection criteria. A repeat order should reference that controlled record and identify any material, regulatory or process change that requires re-approval.

06 / QUALITY, COMPLIANCE & DELIVERY

What Buyers Should Confirm Before Shipment

For brands and distributors who need inspection, documentation, packaging and shipping responsibilities to be clear before the goods leave production.

What quality checks should be defined for a custom order?+

Define checks that match the product risk: identity and quantity, dimensions, glass appearance, filament direction, base and assembly, electrical version, startup and operation, labels, packaging and comparison with the approved sample.

Agree the inspection level and acceptance criteria before production, not after a disagreement.

Can you provide CE, RoHS, UL, ETL or other compliance documents?+

Required documentation must be reviewed for the exact product, construction and destination market. A document for a similar model or component should not be assumed to cover a changed bulb.

Tell us the market, sales channel and required standard or listing at inquiry stage so we can confirm existing coverage or the need for additional evaluation.

Can packaging and labels be customized for our brand?+

Private-label packaging, product labels, carton marks, barcodes and inserts can be discussed depending on product, quantity and market requirements. The buyer should supply controlled artwork and mandatory information, then approve a proof or sample before printing.

How are decorative glass bulbs protected during transport?+

Protection should match the bulb shape, glass projection, unit weight, inner pack, master carton and shipping route. Special forms may need dedicated inserts or spacing. Packaging approval should include both presentation and protection, followed by agreed handling or transport checks where required.

Which shipping information should be agreed before production?+

Confirm delivery destination, required date, carton and pallet limitations, marks, documents, Incoterm, preferred transport mode and who controls freight booking. Final cost and timing depend on packed volume, weight, route and current carrier conditions, so they should be quoted for the actual shipment.

07 / USE & AFTER-SALES

Installation, Maintenance and Problem Reporting

For contractors, facility teams and distributors supporting the product after delivery.

What installation and cleaning guidance should be followed?+

Follow the exact lamp and fixture instructions, local electrical rules and site safety procedure. Electrical work should be handled by appropriately qualified personnel. De-energize and verify the circuit as required, allow the bulb to cool and avoid forcing the glass or base.

For cleaning and handover guidance, use the Installation and Use Tips.

What should we check if a dimmable bulb flickers?+

Record the exact bulb version, voltage, frequency, dimmer or control model, lamps per circuit, setting and fixture. Flicker can involve an incompatible control, unsuitable circuit load, low-end setting, mixed lamp versions or another connected device.

Do not diagnose or modify energized equipment without qualified support.

What evidence is useful when reporting a problem?+

Provide the order and product code, carton and bulb labels, quantity affected, installation date, supply and control details, fixture, location, clear photos and a short video where behavior is intermittent. State whether the issue follows the bulb or remains at one location after a safe controlled check.

How are warranty or quality claims reviewed?+

Claims should be reviewed against the agreed specification, approved sample, quantity, operating condition, installation, traceability and available evidence. Do not discard affected product or packaging until the required inspection information has been collected and the next step has been agreed.

Should a project keep spare bulbs and replacement records?+

Yes. Visible decorative installations benefit from controlled spare stock, especially for multi-location hospitality and retail programs. Keep the exact SKU, electrical version, glass and filament reference, batch or order record, packaging and approved sample so future replacements do not introduce avoidable variation.
